Dating is hard at any age, but particularly when you perhaps no longer feel like a spring chicken! Well the good news is, no matter what age you are, there are plenty of options open to you! Over 50s dating doesn’t have to be hard so here’s some top tips for you, particularly if you love holidays and travelling!
There are plenty of companies that offer great holiday options for people who are single and mature.
Saga Holidays specialise in holidays for the over 50s. Whether you want a hotel stay, a river cruise, ocean cruise or an escorted tour, they have plenty of options worldwide to allow you to meet other likeminded travellers.
Fred Olsen Cruises are not pitched directly at more mature travellers, however the average age of travellers tends to be around 55-75 years old, so again, a great option for the more mature traveller.
Norwegian Cruise Line have studio cabins on their new larger ships (Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape and the Bliss). Whilst these cabins are small (because they are designed for solo travellers), they are perfectly formed. The age range of travellers varies, however the set up of the studio lounge – a communal lounge for those passengers travelling on their own in a studio cabin – works well for socialising and meeting new people. There is also a meetup every night for those people who don’t want to go to dinner on their own, and so it is a great way to sample wonderful cuisine across a selection of all the restaurants, but with great company. There is usually a host from the cruise director’s staff to act as an ice breaker and facilitator too. These meetups are not solely about dating, they are there more for people who just don’t want to eat alone on holiday, but as they are great ways of meeting new people, who knows who you might meet?!
Silver Travel and Solos Holidays also offer great holiday options for the mature and single market.
Not sure about a holiday with a specialist company? You don’t have to commit to anything with a specialist company – you can go on holiday as you always would. Whether in the UK or abroad, a lot of resorts and hotels have activities which are hosted by activities staff anyway. Going along to things like this can allow you to meet great new people. Even things like going on scheduled tours, excursions and activities can bring you great new experiences and open new doors.
Not sure about dating whilst travelling, well remember to keep your eyes open at home. There are websites and apps for dating, but even in your day to day life you can meet new people and have new experiences. From meeting people in a coffee shop or bar, through to going to an evening class or class at the gym. The reason we tend to miss all the opportunities open to us is because we are so often closed off, whether it’s because we have our eyes glued to our mobile devices or in a book, it’s about time we lifted up our heads and smiled at that stranger!
