I was raised in a family with very different views on travel. My grandparents on one side didn't have passports where as my grandfather on the other side was very well travelled. I definitely got the bug from him. I loved hearing about all these amazing places he had been and the things he had seen and my bucket list was forming in my head before I even know what one was.
I don't really drink and I don't smoke - I save spare money to put towards holidays! Sometimes I plan these things months or years in advance, and sometimes the are (for me) relatively last minute. I've just booked to go away in about 10 weeks on a cruise on Oasis of the Seas - one of the largest cruise ships in the world and which has been on the bucket list for a while! My trip to see the Pyramids was even shorter notice - arriving in Cyprus for a planned holiday and finding out I could do a day trip over to Cairo! Personally I prefer to plan these trips further in advance so you can plan it and think about it for a long time. It allows you to maximise your time and fit everything in. Here's some of the things from my bucket list which I've managed to tick off though:
I've gone to Cairo for the day from Cyprus and seen the Pyramids, the Sphinx and been on a cruise down the Nile!
I've been outside at midnight and it's still be light whilst on a Norwegian Fjord cruise - the land of the Midnight Sun!
I've travelled the length of the State of New York, from Manhattan up to Niagara Falls and then crossed over to the Canadian side to see the Falls at sunrise!
I know I'm incredibly fortunate to have been to some amazing places and seen some amazing things, but the world is a big place, and there's still plenty on my bucket list including:
